Slow Down and Fill Up

This morning, I'm pretty sure, I woke to find Heaven on Earth...

A brilliant display of enormous white flakes everywhere...so bright my eyes shut slightly to manage the intensity.

The cold temperature had eased every molecule into a slow shutter leaving a peaceful hush over all of nature.  All I had to do was stop and receive, take it all in.

An amazing thing happens when we slow down.  We begin to fill up.  We discover parts of ourselves and our surroundings that we simply missed when we were moving too fast to take these parts in.  When we stop, we have a chance to meet ourselves, to observe how we think.

Hello gorgeous.

We truly have more perspective from this slowed down position.
We can more clearly see things for what they are.
We can create space around troubles if we need to.
We can relate differently to ourselves, like a supportive friend rather than re-running the automatic critical messages that are so common for us all.

A slow pace can feel like an egg beater in the belly to a person who is used to keeping "too busy".  Many, many people practice busyness as a way to protect themselves from uncomfortable feelings.  We create our own busyness.  Don't mistake this for something bad.  We just want to be aware of what is happening so that we can be the ones in charge. Right? We want to be empowered to decide what's right for us, not behaving out of old automatic habits that run the show from behind a curtain.   Everyone has a starting point.  We just start where we are and choose from there.

Slowing down gives us the chance to decide.

May you find your own secret reservoir of caring presence within.
